Choosing the right lash curl: B, C, CC and D

Curl is the first decision of any set, and the one clients feel the most. Too flat and the eye looks sleepy; too dramatic and retention suffers as the lash fights the natural growth angle.

The four curls at a glance

• B curl — a soft, natural lift. Ideal for straight or downward-pointing natural lashes that need gentle opening.
• C curl — the everyday workhorse. Open and awake without looking obviously enhanced.
• CC curl — more lift than C, less than D. A flattering middle ground for hooded eyes.
• D curl — dramatic, doll-like lift. Stunning on the right eye, but it can hide length if the natural lash points down.

Match curl to the eye

Read the natural lash angle before the eye shape. A downward-growing lash on a D curl often looks shorter, because the tip curls back toward the lid. In those cases a CC or a mix mapped across the eye keeps length visible while still opening the look.

When in doubt, map two curls across the set — a softer curl at the inner corner, a stronger one through the middle — and let the eye's own architecture do the rest.
